Immunization Records

You know that little card where they keep track of what shots you have had and when... I know you know what I am talking about here. Well don't lose that little card!! Especially if you have lived in more than one state. I called the State of Florida and guess what... They think that they must have shredded my records. They definitely can not find my records and are assuming that they were shredded. Nice. This means I get to pay to have a titer done for the MMR and if the titer isn't high enough get another booster. I know that I have had this booster because I got in in order to go to college. It was a requirement!

Can I have a day where I don't get bad news please?

  1. How can they just shred those records? What the heck? I mean those are records you have to show throughout your life! I'll have to make sure to get the updated records from our pediatrician so we don't run into similar problems down the line. Sorry for the frustrations!

  2. Oh yikes! I guess this is another reason that makes sense having medical records online.

I hear ya on the bad news! It always seems to pour when it rains, doesn't it? :(

  3. I guess they are going to make all of our medical records electronic in the future--maybe this will keep this from happening. Ugh.

  4. Ugh! I'm sorry to hear this.

I think my last tetanus shot was in 2001, but other than that, I don't recall the last time I had any of the other shots. And I have no clue where I'd find records of the shots!

  5. I didn't realize that states shred records. Of course, I have no idea what immunizations I have had or not had. If I need something, I am just up a creek.

  6. Does the college have a record of it for you?

  7. Would the student health center on campus have your records? What about insurance records that would show a code of when you received the immunization?

Sorry to hear you're having issues.

Tomorrow is another week, hope things start off better for you.

  8. Going to see if my Universities have records on Monday.
Crazy that the state didn't have to keep my records though!

  9. The college should have a record. We usually shred files after seven years when I worked in a doctor's office. I can't remember the last time I had a shot of anykind and wouldn't know where to find that information.

  10. The universities have also shredded my information... At least the shot records... They seem to still have my transcripts! Scary thing is that these aren't small schools really!!

  11. Uh, we're supposed to have a card? I don't. The last shots I got were in college, as far as I can remember. I'm sure they probably shredded the records, too.
